E-motions is a positive technology: a technology aiming at manipulating and enhancing the features of our personal experience with the goal of increasing wellness, and generating strengths and resilience in individuals.
Specifically, E-motions wants to analyze the possibility of using VR (Video 360) as an affective medium: a medium able to elicit different emotion through the interaction with its contents.
The main objective of E-motion is to examine whether it is possible to use the same virtual experience - a Lake Valley - to elicit a specific affective state by manipulating objects, sound and music, shadows, lights and textures. In particular, the audio-visual features of the virtual environment are manipulated to induce four different emotional states - joy, sadness, anger and anxiety - based on the Rainville & Damasio (2006) model of emotions.
The Lake Valley is provided through four different Video 360 that can be experienced in immersive VR using a Cardboard device
